A day in the life of..
A health care support worker
My name is Chazelle Hellqvist and I have been a Health Care Support Worker with InVent Health for just over a year now. I still enjoy my job as much as the first day I started!
I have been working in care for the last 5 years but have found the past year the most fulfilling. Working for InVent Health has been satisfying in more than just my professional life. My home life is tricky with my husband being in the Armed Forces, meaning he goes away often and usually at a moment’s notice. InVent Health has been so accommodating and supportive when this has happened, adjusting shifts and phoning to make sure I’m alright on my own, InVent Health has really been unlike any other employer I have ever had.
Working with a ventilated patient requires constant concentration and observation. The training you receive before being able to work on your own is detailed and intense so you know exactly what you are doing and you are confident in doing it. I work as part of a wonderful team and everyone I work with is so caring and always willing to swap a shift if they can, they feel like family to me in many ways. This a challenging role with each day being very different from the next. I get a wonderfully warm and fuzzy feeling knowing the care and support I have provided to my patients has contributed to them flourishing and the continual improvement of their well-being.
